Intertexuality

Intertextuality is the shaping of texts' meanings by other texts. It can refer to an author’s borrowing and transformation of a prior text or to a reader’s referencing of one text in reading another. Famous moments in films are often parodied in others.  The ‘Shrek’ series often does this.  It takes famous scenes out of films such as: ‘Spiderman’ and ‘The Matrix’ and makes reference to them.  This is an example of intertextuality and we plan to use the scene from "lady and the tramp" when they are eating the same strand of pasta and end up kissing accidently.
