Evaluation question 4

How did you use new media technologies in the construction and research, planning and evaluation stages.

Panasonic video Camera HDD: We used these cameras that were available at school to record our film at a reasonable quality, which made our film look more professional. We were also able to get some still images of our film which were used in our ancilarry tasks to give the audience an idea of what the film included. Also in the evaluation stages in order to bring more variety to how we evaluated our short film we used the video cameras to video various audience members in order to gain their feedback and to film ourselves answering evaluation question two.

iMovie editing software: This software was available at school and allowed us to edit the whole film such as putting the clips in the correct order editing certain parts of the clips in order to take out any unprofesional shots. Also we were able to upload music tracks to the software and fit it to the clips at correct points making our film more professional. Imovie allowed us to add the "glowy" effect to our film at the montage section where we express passing of time, various transitions to show more variety and ending credits and introduction of the film title. All these elements were very important that  they were included in the film inorder to represent a short film. Also at the planning stages we used imovie to create a animatic to show a rough structure of the narrative. And in the evaluation stage again we used imovie to add the comentary to the film in order to complete evaluation question number one and edit the video footage taken to answer question two and three in order again to make the question look more professional.

Bloger: This website played a big part in our film planning and evaluation. We used blogger to document all our planning and unabled us to keep a track of what still needs doing and we found this a great way to present our planning it also allowed us to express any problems we came across and found this very usefull. Also we were able to upload all our ancillary tasks which then allowed people to view them and give us some feebback and any tips as to how to impove them. This then showed the progression and development of our products from how we initially started and how the finish product ended up looking.

Photoshop: was used only in the ancilary tasks to construct the film poster, front cover magazine and review page, and made the products look as professional as possible and as reprensentational of real print products.

Dafont.com: A website that was used in order to use proffesional fonts to match the print products and again make them look more professional and as realistic as possible to real front covers review pages and film posters.

Cyberlink power 9: This software was used to edit our music that we recorded specifically for our short film. To record the song we used various music recording equiptment such as microphones, headphones, syntheisers and the cyberlink software.

Review Page

We were asked to create a film review and to make sure we used continuity, we used the same colour form the film poster to the review page to instantly link it to the film. Also after having researched review pages we used the effect of repeating certain comments in larger fonts and also featured some still images form our main product to give the audience a "feel" for the film alos we included a realistic star ranking. Also made sure that we carried on the same name of the magazine that we used for the fornt cover and made sure that we also used the same tag line (the first to know). We feel really proud of this page we feel it looks profesional and realistic because we have follwed very clearly the typical review page set up however developed this further by adding the top 10 ranking to make it more interesting.

Evaluation Question 3: Wordle and YouTube comments

We made an evaluation sheet asking from various audiences feedback from our short film, and this image express the most common words used.

YouTube Comments

Gennerally the comments we received from a vatiety of audiences was possitive, the genre of the film was clear which is what we wanted to achieve we didnt want to alienate the audience in any way. Also comedy came across to the audience which made the short film more enjoyable, it was also refered to as professional which shows we as the directors and editors did a good job. Very pleased with the comments overall, some negative comments were that when the actors were speaking it wasnt clear enough which can easily be correct by just making the actors speak slower snd louder.

Evaluation Question 3 - Audience feedback recorded videos

These are various clips by four different audience memebers giving us possitive feedback of our film.

Film Poster final verison

our final product! we are stickin with the idea of using the heads we feel it woks and now just added the tag line of love is loading and made the text of working title producers in smaller and taller font which is another element in film posters. Looks more realistic

new idea for film poster..

We looked back at our analysis of film posters and found more images on the internet such as the poster for the film knocked up, and decided to take the idea of just using the actors heads. We got rid of the key board mouse and computer screen idea which makes it look allot more professional amd clearer changed our actors first names to the colour of the title and actors surnames in black which was another element shown in real romatic comedy film posters. Changed the image of the male protagonist from the last poster to a close up image which shows a more geeky expression of that hes tryinng to smile which indicates that the film is a comedy.Better editing and looks more sleek.

Film poster more and final progress

Added the male protagonist to the screen,  however even though we feet that the idea is good it doesnt't  seem to come across on the poster. Editing needs work and the image of male protagonist doesnt suggest the character he is of been a "geek" only his shirt suggests he not too into a fashion.

Film Poster.. more progress

we started making more changes to the poster by changing the background colour to a pale green which links to the film title colour, because we felt there was too much white space. Also we made the main image bigger and the keyboard image clearer to see the lettering better and got rid of the little images of the film, we felt it made the poster look more clearer and profesional also we changed the colour of the actors names to grey because we felt there previous colour of baby blue and baby pink made the film look like it was for children. we will still wok on it and see how it looks with the male protagonist image in the poster too.

Film poster progress...

This is a really first draft of the poster we have the idea of two protagonists beeing in the computer screen to indicate there nature of being involved with computers also put the working title and other additional information into a keyboard to again enhance the importance of computers, because that is were the two protagonists met. We included various elements of real film posters for example weve taken some images of what happens in the film to give an idea to the audience and put the protagonists names in the top corners of the film and also included a tag line of "love is loading" again linking to computers but also including the romatic element ,also adding a certificate to indicate who the film is suitable for and making te date which the film is been launched in a bigger bolder font to stand out to inform audience clearly. But needs further work.

Magazine front cover!

our final magazine front cover has elements from various real magazine front covers (eg empire, total film ) we analysed such as using diferent shapes, hilghiting certain words in order to stand out and intrugue the buyer, adding a competition in order again to attract the audience and also using punctuation marks to ake certain parts of the magazine stand out. Also our image gives away its genre from the way the actors are stood with an incredible height difference and the female trying to reach him to kiss him suggests both romance and comedy which is what the genre of the film is. only thing now we need to add is a barcode bar date and price.

male protagonist photos!

I managed to get the male protagonist to bring his constume from the film and was able to take his photos for the magazine and for the film poster.

Second life Magazine cover process

We decided on this image to use for the female protagonist because it express that the film is a romance film by her wanting to kiss the male protagonist and by the clothles shes wearing ( which she also wears in the film) it also indicates that the film is a comedy.

female protagonists photos and music track used for film

Today i managed to take some pictures of our female protagonist in her outfit in order to put into our front cover magazine and film poster.

Today the final version of the film has been edited today :) and also a  couple of weeks ago i managed to record a cover of  Kids in Glass Houses- Satturday (original version) which is used on the part were our male protagonist is getting ready and were the actors names are dispalyed throughout "Arthur's" room . I managed to get the song edited in order to fit the begining of the film today. This is the full version

Filming!

we managed to film 3 weeks ago :) at the amazing walton hall this really gave the movie a really romantic feeling and was perfect to make the comedy element stand out because the events that occur in the short film completly contrasts the location that we decided to film.
